Iran approaches nuclear weapons potential
Iran is approaching a potential that can be used for creating nuclear weapons, said the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the Russian Ambassadors’ conference in Moscow. The President called for withdrawal from a “simplified attitude” to the Iranian nuclear problem.
He confirmed Russia’s belief that sanctions do not provide the desired effect but admitted that Iran “does not behave itself”.“We consistently call on Tehran to be open and cooperate with the International Nuclear Energy Agency”, Medvedev said. In his words, the main aim of the new UN Security Council’s resolution on Iran is to resume the talks as soon as possible. “If diplomats miss this chance it will be a universal failure”, Medvedev said.
