ร่าง อดีตผู้นำโรมาเนีย นิโคเล เคาเสสคู และภรรยาจะถูกนำมาประกอบพิธีชาปณะกิจใหม่ในอาทิตย์นี้อย่างเงียบๆ เคาเสสคู เป็นผู้นำเผด็จการ จากพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์โรมาเนีย ปกครองประเทศมานานกว่า 25 ปี แต่ถูกไล่ลงออกจากอำนาจในปี 1989 ช่วงที่มีการลุกฮือขึ้นมาต่อต้านคอมมิวนิสต์ในประเทศ ชาวโรมันเนียบางส่วนรวมถึงครอบครัวของเคาเสสคู สงสัยว่าร่างของสามีภรรยา ถูกนำไปประกอบพิธีในหลุมฝั่งศพ ของกองทัพใน Ghencea ในกรุงบูคาเรสต์จริงหรือไม่ แต่จากการตรวจสอบ DNA เทียบกับวาเลนติน (Valentin) ลูกชายของทั้งคู่แล้วยืนยันว่าเป็นศพของเคาเสสคูและภรรยจริง ดังนั้นครอบครัวของเขาจึงจะประกอบพิธีทางศาสนาให้กับท่านทั้งสองอีกครั้ง ปี 1918 เคาเสสคู เกิดในเมืองออต (Olt) ในครอบครัวที่พ่อแม่เกษตรกร เมื่ออายุได้ 11 ปีได้ย้ายมายังบูคาเรสต์ทำงานเป็นพนักงานในโรงงานหลายแห่ง เขาได้เข้าเป็นสมาชิกพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์แห่งโรมาเนีย ซึ่งไม่ได้จดทะเบียนตามกฏหมาย เขาถูกจับครั้งแรกในปี 1932 และต่อมาก็ถูกจับอีกหลายครั้งในการเคลื่อนไหวในฐานะคอมมิวนิตส์เพราะเข้าไปเกี่ยวข้องกับการสไตล์ การประท้วงหลายครั้ง นอกจากนั้นเขายังเคลื่อนไหวต่อต้านลัทธินาซีด้วย ในปี 1936 เขาถูกจำคุก 2 ปี จากกิจกรรมต่อต้านนาซี เขาพบกับ อีเลน่า เปเตรสคู (Elena Petrescu) ในปี 1940 หลังจากได้รับการปล่อยตัวออกมาก…

การประชุม COP16 ที่ดำเนินการโดยองค์กรสหประชาติที่เมือง แคนคูน ประเทศเม็กซิโก ตั้งแต่ 29 พฤศจิกายน ถึง 10 ธันวาคม โดยประเทศกว่า 190 ประเทศเข้าร่วมได้จบลงไปแล้ว ข้อสรุปที่เหมือนจะได้รับ ก็คือ จะไปคุยกันต่อในครั้งหน้าว่าจะต่ออายุพิธีสารเกียวโต ต่อไปอีกหรือไม่ หลังจากหมดอายุในปี 2012 แต่ก็มีประเทศที่ต่อต้านการขยายอายุของพิธีสารนี้ต่อไป ได้แก่ ญี่ปุ่น รัสเซีย และแคนนาดา แต่การประชุมครั้งนี้ก็ยังประสบความสำเร็จเล็กๆ มีแผนตั้งกองทุน Green Climate Fund มูลค่า 30,000 ล้านเหรียญเพื่อช่วยประเทศยากจนและประเทศกำลังพัฒนาต่อสู้กับปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวเนื่องกับสภาวะโลกร้อน เช่น การรักษาป่าไม้ ในระยะเวลาสองปี และวงเงินจะสูงถึงหนี่แสนล้านภายในปี 2020 โดยป่าไม้เขตร้อนมีส่วนช่วยในการซับคาร์บอนถึง 15% ของทั้งโลก ซึ่งกองทุนนี้มีความสัมพันธ์กับข้อมูลของ UN REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation ) มากขึ้น โดย REDD ซึ่งออกแบบมาให้สามารถประเมินคาร์บอนเครดิตได้จากการอนุรักษ์ป่าไม้ โลกนี้มีการสูญเสียพื้นที่ป่าปีละประมาณหกล้านเฮกเตอร์ในแต่ละปี รับรอง…
